The Journey

Twenty Years. Eighty Countries.

A world travel infographic showing a curved timeline with points marked for countries including Sydney, Hollywood, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Borneo, Bucharest, Barcelona, Bolivia, and Peru, with milestones indicating childhood, age 24, and other durations.

At age twenty-four, Darren sold everything he owned and bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok.

What began as an escape became a twenty-year search that carried him through nearly eighty countries — and through some of the highest and lowest points of his life.

But the farther he traveled, the more he discovered that distance couldn't solve what he was running from.

THE LIFE BETWEEN DEPARTURES

Travel was never the only story.

Along the way, I built companies, built supply chains, changed careers, learned new industries, sat in boardrooms and started over more than once.

I could move easily. I could adapt. I could walk into a new country, a new job, or a new room and figure out how to belong.

What took much longer was figuring out where I belonged when there was nowhere new to go.
